Alex Vaz is a Hardcore Edge kid from the O.C. Alex 2 is an ex graffiti writer from Venice. Their line is built on who they are and what they’ve been through, good and bad. Alex Vaz got here in a straight line, he went to school for fashion design, spent his time grinding it out working for hard garmentos during the day, and taking his aggressions out at shows at night. Alex 2 took the longer route. He dropped out of high school, wrote graff, got back into school, got into UCLA Film, started to apprentice as a tattooer, and then ended up designing clothes.
They met at Howe Denim a few years ago. Vaz was Art Director and was brought on as a Junior Designer. This was not the first time they crossed paths, the times before were under less auspicious circumstances. When Vaz was brought on at Howe, they both decided to let what had transpired between them in the past go, so they could focus on work. They both left Howe and Alex 2 freelanced for about a year while Vaz took another industry job. They met their third partner in 2005, hit the ground running, and launched at the Pool Tradeshow August of that year. It’s been non-stop ever since. They absolutely love making their line, inspired by their lives, friends, music and cities.
